Kille Raigad swaree ...

And finally Neeeeelesh/Manoj managed us to take on tour for KILLE(fort) RAIGAD and we really enjoyed all the moments after long time just because of them. Except some heartbreaking incidents everything is unforgettable that I would like to share with you all.

Raigad is a hill fortress situated in the modern day Raigad District of Maharashtra, India. The great Maratha king Shivaji made the fort his capital in 1674 when he was crowned king of a Marathi kingdom which later developed into the Maratha Empire.

The fort, which rises 820 m (2700 ft) above sea level, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. There are approximately 1400–1450 steps leading to the fort, though today a rope-way exists to reach the top of the fort. The fort was looted and destroyed by the British upon siege.

“Fort Raigad is much more than a mere tourist spot. It is a sacred place of pilgrimage, which has left an imprint of the grand vision of Hindavi Swarajya as cherished by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.” It is a monument of his prophetic vision of Hindavi Swarajya.
